Too Many Wheels - Too many wheels, held in high esteem, for too long a part of everyday life, with coming of age and retirement years, these items of pride and nostalgia, just tin and tires....a work in progress

Nicholas Price's Cleared Hot! Exhibition and National Tour is concluding at the National Museum Of The US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio this October 26th 2007 through to April 1st 2008.

Over 650,000 visitor's are expected to see the exhibition during the six months it will be displayed in the Hall Of Honor Gallery:

Here is a description of the opening evening of the reception:

About 500 people attended the opening of the exhibit which included a magnificent performance by the US Air Force Band of Flight. Lt Col Alan Sierichs the Commander of the Band paid tribute to Nicholas by recounting his journey to capture these photos of the men and women who make up our armed forces. The Band performed live music specially written by Senior Master Sargent Ken Miller for this Band while selected images of the Cleared Hot! Exhibit was portrayed on two 10' screens.

The title of the musical piece was "Flight". The crowd showed great appreciation with lengthy applause following the tribute. Col Sierichs actually eliminated the normal intermission to allow people the time and opportunity to tour the exhibition following the concert. There was a lot of interest in the photographs.

The audience was a combination of active duty military, retired military, civil leaders, community partners, and people who had an interest in photography but also enjoyed the concert. All of the Military Services were represented.

I heard many people explaining to their guest what they were seeing in the photos…uniforms, vehicles, weapons, aircraft. Others silently viewed each photo.

By far the German Shepherd wearing the goggles was the picture that got the biggest reaction. Always laughter, lots of questions. I heard MajGen (Ret) Charles Metcalf, the Director of the National Museum of the USAF say that this was his personal favorite of the collection.

Classy, Impressive, Interesting, Touching, Enjoyable…. were a few of the comments I heard as people departed the Museum.

I'm sure many veterans and guests will enjoy the Exhibit during its tenure at the National Museum. -

Teresa Montgomery, Director of Special Events, National Museum of the USAF.
